# DiskGolf privacy

DiskGolf scans filesystem metadata locally to display names, paths, sizes, and folder relationships. It does not upload file contents, names, paths, or scan results. Scanning does not require an account or an AI service.

The application keeps the current scan in memory. Interface preferences are stored locally. It does not install a background service, automatically delete files, or collect analytics.

If you export a diagnostic summary, a file is saved locally for you to share yourself. The summary contains application version, scan status, counts, and timing. It excludes filenames and paths. Screenshots can reveal personal information; review them before sharing.

Windows handles folder-selection dialogs, Explorer integration, and the Recycle Bin. A Windows installer may obtain the WebView2 runtime from Microsoft if it is missing; Microsoft's own runtime and operating-system behavior are separate from DiskGolf's application data handling.
